到目前为止，我们人类对于加热之观念一直都被局限于“对流”、“传导”、“幅射”三种表面加热方法而已，近年来利用“被加热物体本身分子磨擦生热之原理”所发展出来之诱电加热（包括高周波与微波加热）被广泛应用于工业加热干燥用途上面，此种加热方法不像前述之三种方法，热量不需要穿透物体表面，而是将电磁波能量直接穿透物体内部转换成热量的一种方法，也被称为“第四种加热方式
*特点：A.加热速度快；传统加热干燥需要20-40小时，高周波干燥只需要10-20分钟。
B.选择性加热；两种不同材料一起放置，该设备会按照物质的损失系数大小自动调节比例，使产品含水率达到均匀一致。
C.减少待机时间和精确温度控制；高周波设备可立即启动与停止，不需待机时间，功率大小的调节可精确控制产品的最终含水率。
D.大幅度节省空间；加热方式不同，因此大幅度减少传统加热干燥所需要的大量空间。
E.改善操作环境；传统加热方式往往产生大量废热与损坏的不良品，而高周波加热则不产生废热，操作环境幽雅，产品不良率几乎为零。
*高周波干燥技术用于纺织品的优越性：
A. 节省能量；因为射频加热方式仅加热纤维中的水分，而不会加热纤维和染料，比蒸汽烘干有更高的经济效益。
B.采用直接加热，所有水分子都会一起处理，避免了筒子内外干燥不均匀现象，使整个水分分布正负1%
C.高频干燥设备是开放和连续的，易于自动化，并有很大的灵活性，高频能量可根据生产负荷进行调节。
